Weizenbock
Beer Blitz Rater Comments
Appearance
A very pale yellow, maybe too pale. Very cloudy but this is typical of a weizen or
wheat beer. Head is nice, white, rocky, and of decent duration. Cloudy golden
color, well carbonated, not unusual for its type.
Aroma
Impressive strength and complexity. Sweet malt and an entire basket of fruity
tones. Crisp uber wheat beer. Imagine a wheat lager with the volume turned way
up. Natural citrus tones, I really like this beer.
Palate
Very smooth, some sweetness but well balanced with the wheat. Less sugary
sweet than aroma suggests. Carbonation is light, overall very pleasant. Wow,
this beer grabs you. A true wheat dopplebock, nothing less, nothing more, except
it is the best example of this style that I have ever had.
Finish
Strong grainy finish, the sweetness vanishes, leaving a very pleasant wheat
taste. Mild tartness balances with the natural sweetness to provide a crisp yet
full-bodied beer.
Synopsis
Very tasty wheat beer, sure to be loved by anyone who likes wheat styles. Often
wheat beers are drank with a Schnapps or citrus juice. This beer doesn't need it.
These flavors naturally raise their heads and are a result of good brewing and
proportioning of the recipe.
