Appearance
Excellent color, mix of amber, brown, and reddish tones. Nice and clear, head is
off-white with a rocky character, and is sufficiently lasting.
Beautiful dark brown
mahogany color. Clear with expressive head, not terribly long lasting but
adequate.

Aroma
Decent strength of aroma, mostly fruity, specifically cherry, with a mild hint of
chocolate and spices.
Full aroma, spicy, nutty, and warming. Hints of raisin and
nutmeg and other seasonal type aromatics. Well balanced in that one does not
overpower another. A unique blend.

Palate
A little creamy mouth feel, mild chocolate, and good carbonation balance, but a
bit light on flavor compared to other ales.
Grabs like an Imperial style ale. Very
apparent sweetness give beer a silky and sticky mouth feel. On the heavy side
this is definitely a warmer and specific to season. Would be a good beer with
roasted meats or maybe a good cigar.

Finish
Some of the cherry and malt comes through with a significant bitterness in the
end, not necessarily an outrageous amount, but still overdone in my view. The
bitterness does too much overshadowing of the other flavors and even
overshadows some of the alcohol content but it does have warming qualities.
A
good bit of hops is used to balance this brew. Brew is the key as this beer retains
qualities of tea and spice. Mouth feel lingers and beer delivers on its claim as a
holiday beer.

Synopsis
A decent overall beer, obviously not my favorite of the ale category, the hoppy
spicy tones hid too much of the rest of this one from my tasting.
Great care taken,
complex, somewhat rich. Maybe overly rich and spicy as to what I was expecting. I
appreciate the quantity of flavors, certainly a handful.
