Imperial Stouts are by far the "Grand - Daddy" of all stouts.  They are very, very
dark and rich, with a deep-roasted, satisfying flavor.  Siberian Night is made in
this tradition.  It is creamy and full-bodied, with a complex character from
generous amounts of roasted, toasted, and caramel malts.  For those who
demand flavor, this is the perfect libation.  Bronze Medal winner at the 2003 Great
American Beer Festival.

Appearance
Ink black, don't expect to any light to get through here. The name and the label
seem quite fitting. Dark brown, lasting, and rocky head, unique in the large
rounded crater appearance.
Dark roast as an imperial stout should be. Slight
hints of red where the beer breaks into the head. Very nice rocky head, great
all-around.

Aroma
Inviting, reveals the beer to be a strong one. Very roasted with a slight hint of
chocolate sweetness. Would have preferred that the aroma itself have just a bit
more strength.
Chocolate, coffee, roasted caramel. Lasting and distinct with a
nice bitterness coming from the roast.

Palate
A mildly creamy mouth feel, extremely full and rich roasted flavor. Wonderful albeit
two dimensional, only rich roasted malt and mild chocolate.
True to its aroma and
color. Slightly dry to the palate. Separates on the tongue for a more grainy than
creamy mouth feel, falls somewhere in-between.

Finish
Roasted and toasted ! "Burnt but delicious" comes to mind. Strong full flavor and
alcohol warming character.
Full and pleasant (if you aren't weak at heart).
Warming and noticeable alcohol content with roasted coffee flavor.

Synopsis
A delicious beer, one of my favorites. Excellent flavor, less complex than some
stouts and two dimensional, but unique in the strength and character of those
dimensions. Plenty strong, I have to come back to the "Burnt but delicious"
comment, I think that sums up this beer well. Easy to find and economical by
comparison, this one will be in my fridge often.
A great American example of the
Imperial Stout style. A stout that is turbo-charged, magnifying the base elements
of a stout, very powerful.
