Wheat Ale List

Appearance
A brownish orange tint with hints of yellow. A touch darker than expected but
glows when held to a light. Cloudy per the unfiltered style, but an evenly
distributed and attractive cloudy. Head is off-white, moderate height, creamy
dense character, and long lasting for the style. Good lacing, excellent overall.
Dense and rich cloudy orange. Thick short head to a relatively low carbonated
beer. Creamy and thick appearance relating to an Imperial White.
Aroma
Impressively strong with coriander spice, wheat, sweet sugars, a grape and
orange citrus, and strong but pleasantly balanced alcohol tones. Outstanding !
Malty alcohol warmth with silky aromas of vanilla, cherry, and chestnut. Earthy
with salt, pepper, and brandy....incredibly inviting.
Palate
Has both a crispness and a creamy mouth feel. Full flavored and impressive
right away with coriander, wheat, and grain flavors. More complex than most,
sweet and spicy with milk sugars, cinnamon, orange, wheat, dark barley, and
pepper. Multiple spice and hop, a creamy brandy-like ale, unique.
Finish
The palate flavors gain intensity...spice, wheat, grains, sweet malt, a touch of
banana, an interesting sour and salt note, and strong but well managed alcohol
tones. In addition to the large number of components already mentioned,
banana enters the mix here. A banana bread essence, this ale maintains a
powerful richness yet is not too heavy, not overdone.
Synopsis
Simply put, this is a top notch beer, well deserving of its "Imperial" designation.
Wonderfully complex generally speaking, and easily the most complex brew ever
released by Sam Adams. Traditional white wheat ale taste with wheat, spice,
fruity tones, some sour, some salt, and authoritative but likeable alcohol
warming. The signature Sam Adams hop isn't as noticeable here, a welcome
change for variety and relevance to this style. Simply Excellent ! Samuel Adams
continues to push the envelope with their Imperial Series. This goes off the deep
end, yet some wild flavors converge to provide something enjoyable.
Samuel Adams Imperial White pushes out the boundaries of a witbier. While the
brew delivers orange and coriander notes, typical of witbiers, it has a bigger
mouthfeel and body. It's a truly unique brew. Jim Koch, Brewer & Founder
