Prima Pils Pilsner Beer
Always free for our viewers, but if you like what

A REFINED PILSNER BEER FOR NATURAL ENJOYMENT. Prima ! An
exclamation of joy. A recognition of accomplishment. Though it's spoken in
German, it's felt in all languages. It's what escaped from our lips as we
sampled the first brew of this mighty Pilsner beer. Though we'd been through a
few in our years with other breweries, finally, with whole flower European hops
and fine German malts we had achieved what we'd sought for so long.
Prima... an exclamation of Victory ! Prost ! Bill / Ron The brewmasters of
Victory
Beer Blitz Rater Comments
Appearance
A pale golden yellow color, effervescent, but with a significant amount of cloudiness.
Head was snow white in color and impressive in character for the style, tall, lasting, a
bit rocky, and there was decent lacing on the glass. Very effective tall white head.
Somewhat cloudy quality to the light golden color. Close inspection reveals flaws in a
standard to good Pilsner example.
Aroma
Decent strength, particularly for the Pilsner style. Nothing harsh, a clean water and
grain scent with some sweet malt and very light fruit...basically apple. Very aromatic
with a nice combo of malt and fruity hop. Additional crispness is noted with bread and
citrus highlights. Very clean but also expressive.
Palate
The aroma didn't lie at all, it is crisp with a clean water essence, grainy, and a very
light sweet malt. Surprisingly full lager flavor, hops keep the beer in the pilsner range
and this is relatively bold in taste and texture. Water is a bit coppery and flavor has
plenty of salt.
Finish
Strength picks up and the hops really kick in. The grainy flavor and sweet malt
carries through but is held well into the background by the hops. The ending and
aftertaste is a very bold hop. Follows the previous pattern with an additional sour bite.
Hidden fruitiness and spice is a little overwhelmed in a heavy-ended hop.
Synopsis
A good Pilsner, Victory brewing tends to make "lighter versions" of beer in my view
and I figured the Pilsner style was one that they would do relatively well. While good
it is not perfect however, with constructive criticisms being a cloudiness that doesn't
belong and the hop flavors being a bit more harsh than they should be in the finish. It
was this that put this beer in the B+ range instead of the "A" ranks. I am going to call
this the lager version of an IPA. I admire the boldness of flavor and hop bite but the
beer doesn't balance as well as I would expect from a Pilsner. A little more malt and
light sweet carry-thru would have helped.
