List of Stouts
Steeped in tradition and deep in body, our Out of Bounds Stout is an extreme
experience. Live life on the edge, plunge into the black. Brewed with Rocky
Mountain water, malted barley, hops, and yeast.
Avery Brewing Co., Boulder, CO   www.averybrewing.com
Appearance
A dark black but more of a dark red when held to a light. Clear, no cloudiness, but
being a stout I shouldn't be able to tell that. The head is a light tan, tall, creamy,
and amazingly bubbly. Develops a chunky and flaky head as it sits and lacing on
the glass is excellent.
Nice big light beige head that is rocky and chunky. This
stout is not black but more of an off-black to red.

Aroma
Just moderately strong aroma. Has a surprisingly piney hop scent, some tangy
citrus, and light roasted malt but too light for a stout.
A less traditional stout with
more typical ale aromatics adding to the roast. Has coffee, apple, and banana
scents.

Palate
I hate to be this critical but this is thin and watery, not expected for a stout. Soft but
not creamy, it tries to be but ends up watery. Decent flavors but not satisfying due
to the weak presentation.

Finish
Finally some stout character comes out, roasted malt flavor but still very mild and
very one dimensional.
Has the stout basics and is very drinkable but its lack of
strength keeps this below par in the world of stouts.

Synopsis
I like some Avery products...the White Rascal wheat ale is a good one, but I didn't
like this stout. Stouts are obviously not this breweries strong point, many of their
other beers are excellent. This was way too weak and one dimensional.
Disappointing.
