The Octoberfest or Oktoberfest beers are also sometimes referred to as Marzens. This
is because they are often brewed in March and allowed to slowly ferment to be enjoyed
in the celebration of Autumn. This style of beer is a bottom fermenting lager style.
Modern day beers of this style fall in between pale lagers and dark lagers in color. They
typically use a variety of malts and low levels of hops. These beers have more character
than the typical lager, are sweeter, but not quite as sweet as the bock style.
