Barley's Brewing, Columbus, OH   www.barleysbrewing.com
Appearance
Medium to dark gold in color with moderate cloudiness. Head is off-white in color
and is tall and lasting for the scotch ale style of beer. The head holds a creamy
texture with some crater-like character. The lacing on the glass is nice.
A slightly
cloudy gold. Light in texture and appearance. Head is white and lasting, a good
look for a draft and not overly carbonated.

Aroma
Moderately strong, fruity ale scents...orange, cherry, and apple. Very mild alcohol
tones.
Soft aroma, sweet malt, crisp water, and hop. Light spiciness and alcohol
tones relevant to the Scotch ale style.

Palate
Flavorful, sweet malt and citrus, very smooth, just barely some hops in the initial
taste.
Lightly warming, good medium sweetness of malt with light and dry
hoppiness. Spice, toasted caramel, and fruit, a nice balance.

Finish
Strength picks up with a malty fullness, a little graininess, and sweet citrus. An
array of bitters are there but held well into the background with the malty sweet.
Clean finish, moderate sweet and a tart tanginess compliments a silky smooth
texture. The caramel is lasting and the beer is "sticky sweet" on the tongue.

Synopsis
Pale colored relevant to style, malty and citrus sweet, light graininess, extremely
light hoppy array of bitters at the end. Alcohol tones are well subdued, especially
for the style. Tasty and drinkable, full-flavored yet I would not use the word
"strong".
A very good example of the scotch ale style, a good brew particularly as
a draft. Much care put into the product and process, Barley's does Columbus
proud !
