Our Lager List

Appearance
Orange-ish copper color but with a fair amount of cloudiness. Off-white head is
medium to tall, airy and foamy, with moderate duration and light lacing.
Robust gold with a short rocky head. Mildly cloudy, but good overall. This lager is
effervescent with small bubbles.
Aroma
Strong for a lager, sweet malts and orange and lime citrus sweet and sour, very
nice.
A nice style presentation of a German Dortmunder. Flavors of aroma are nicely
balanced, sweet and relaxed.
Palate
A full flavored lager, crisp, more sweetness of malt then many lager beers, and a
slight sweet orange citrus tone mixed in with the grain.
A sweet lager beer, that is lightly hopped but with the substance. The sugars
almost have a honeycomb quality. For a lager beer this is creamy from a texture
standpoint.
Finish
A Saaz like hopped note briefly takes over, then alternates with a light sweet malt,
sweet citrus, grains, hops, and even a lime peel citrus zest.
A little tanginess underneath a semi sweet. Good malt with salt and the addition
of mild hop. This beer continues to blend and heighten in creaminess.
Synopsis
A very enjoyable lager beer, more full flavor and complex than most. In addition to
the requisite carbonation, hop, and grains, there are some ale like citrus
components. The malt is sweeter than most, sort of a mixture between a lager
and a maibock, but with some hops.
I was always fond of Thirsty Dogs Balto lager. As far as I know that beer went
away. This is true to the Dortmunder style as the former was more of a
straightforward lager. I miss the Balto but maybe nostalgia prevails because I
drink way too much beer.
Labrador lager is as quintessential as the breed itself. True to style down to the
European hops and yeast. Loyalty following the German brewing traditions of
lagering (aging). When you unleash the flavor of this light golden colored,
perfectly balanced beer, you too will become a loyal friend of Thirsty Dog Brewing
Co.
