Appearance
An orange to light brown shade, attractive but with significant cloudiness to hurt
the score. Head is off-white, rocky in character, and decent in duration.
Cloudy
golden color. Nice sustained head, rocky with an almost custard quality.
Cloudiness is a little bit of a turnoff and slightly lighter in hue than anticipated.

Aroma
malty sweetness. Spicy hoppy notes are also significant in the background. Fruity
and hoppy. Lemon and lemon peel zest. Spicy with hints of coriander and
rosemary. Hops are a defining quality and the chosen blend propels the
aromatics for this ale.

Palate
Pleasant and crisp, leaning toward the sweet side. The orange citrus is noticed in
the first sip. A self-described "American Amber Ale" this beer is good, maybe still
just a bit thin for an ale.
Initial strong nose to the ale, but both mellows and
develops further down the glass. A little background sweetness is detected with
the balance to the tart side. More citrus and spice and requisite toastiness.

Finish
The strength quickly picks up in the finish. A nice malty and grainy fullness
appears. A significant hop kick initially balances the sweetness and eventually
overtakes it. The hop kick is impressive without any unpleasant bitterness.
Crisp,
dry, and medicinal. No negative connotations. Fortified but not too heavy. A light
creamy texture with a relatively light finish, the hops providing all of the oomph !

Synopsis
An excellent "American Ale" with more character than most "American Ales". As
mentioned, a bit thin for the overall ale style but unique with its strong and
enjoyable hoppy bite. Even one not overly found of very hoppy beers could enjoy
this pleasant blend.
There are a lot of beers that are double, triple, or quadruple
hopped to their detriment. This beer brings in hops in a big way but doesn't kill the
drinker with an astronomical IBU.
