Harvest Moon Pumpkin Ale
Pumpkin Beer List
Appearance
A great color, an orangish brown copper, clear and effervescent. Head is a light
tan, medium height, airy and foamy but short in duration with almost no lacing on
the glass.
Nice looking color, a shiny amber brown with a short off-white head.
Moderate carbonation with no lacing but man what a color !

Aroma
OK strength level, smells like a very sweet pumpkin pie with whipped cream on
top. Has some nutmeg in the background but a criticism is the lack of beer
aroma, is this a pumpkin beer or a pie ?
Light but pleasant, pumpkin, cinnamon,
nutmeg, and sweetness.

Palate
A touch crisp, a touch creamy. This beer has some pleasant lightly sweet
pumpkin, nutmeg, and clove but the presentation of each is on the light side.
Tasty but not terribly robust. On the sweet side and thin, the essence of pumpkin
takes a back seat but the spice carries through.

Finish
The palate flavors grow somewhat but end up being overtaken by a strong
carbonation zest that makes you wait for the aftertaste to get more pumpkin and
spice flavor.
A dry tanginess creeps in and the spices gently dissipate away. I
would say the finish/aftertaste will have wider appeal as it turns into a carbonated
brew.

Synopsis
Not a bad pumpkin variant but I can't say excellent. I think the appearance is the
best attribute minus the short duration of the head. The palate is a pleasant
pumpkin but light to a fault. I didn't care for the overpowering carbonation kick in
the finish, particularly for an ale.
Overall a pretty thin brew. It has what it is
supposed to, pumpkin and spice flavors without too much sweetness or
overspicing. Not sensational but drinkable.
