Beer Blitz Rater Comments
Appearance
Good medium to dark reddish copper color. A slight cloudiness held this score
back. Nice rocky head off-white in color. Nice light caramel color, appears inviting.
I really like the fullness and staying power of the head. A criticism would be the
cloudiness of the beer.
Aroma
Decent strength for a lager, very grainy, no sweetness detected. A little hoppy
bitterness was also noticed. As a whole quite pleasant. I was a bit surprised but I
did sense some light fruity hints along with the light malt. Maybe the brewer is
exploring a hybrid approach to his craft.
Palate
Very smooth, on the thin side, very little carbonation noticed initially, simply a
grainy flavor. Solid flavor, would pair well with a wide variety of foods. Would
probably be a good draft. Without researching the ingredients I would guess the
grain is solely barley with a complex blend of regional hops. May be trying to be
too many things at once for a lager.
Finish
Slight carbonation strength awakens, a very grainy taste, and very, very slight
citrus flavor. No real sweetness to speak of. A slight hoppy bitter comes through
at the end. Agreeable finish. Decent mouth feel and distinct aftertaste. There are
some muddy or sour tones but not enough to make me consider this one
disagreeable.
Synopsis
Decent lager but not my favorite. From the Full Sail line I enjoy the "Batch 01"
lager much better. Not the best of Full Sails products but not bad.
