Denver Pale Ale beer head
DPA is a world-renowned, classic pale ale with a malty middle and an equally
hearty complement of hop aroma, flavor, and bitterness.  Suggested food
pairings: Grilled burgers or lamb, pasta with robust sauces such as Puttanesca.

Great Divide Brewing Co., Denver, CO        www.greatdivide.com
Appearance
Outstanding. An orange, amber copper tone, perfectly clear, effervescent and
inviting. Head is just slightly off-white in color, decent height and duration with a
creamy and chunky character.  Had good lacing on the glass.
Clear, light, red
rosey color. Its actually like a brut champagne in appearance. Effervescent and
crisp, clean and inviting.

Aroma
Decent aroma strength, mainly a light citrus and piney hops. Fruity and coppery,
with a definite sweetness. Citrus, orange, key lime. Some darker sugar
notes...mango and a little light coriander spice. Overall lighter aroma but present.

Palate
Initially a soft mouth feel, clean water essence, very light citrus and hops. Less
crisp initially than appearance suggests.
Solid texture with a solid hop bite. Piney
and a little rough for so delicate a brew. Sweetness subsides although silky
mouthfeel remains. Ale grows in quality with each sip.

Finish
Some fullness picks up with an orange malty sweetness. This sweetness is
quickly balanced and overcome by a mild hoppy bitter and mild orange peel bitter
at the very end.
Aftertaste unlocks some flavor components; some five spice and
sour fruit. This finishes a little unexpectedly dry. Slightly salty.

Synopsis
A pleasant drinkable beer with a bitter hop presence that is very subdued with no
"rough edges". A good beer but constructive criticism would be more zest and
carbonation..mostly a two dimensional beer.
Versatile beer that would go well
with lighter foods (seafood for example). A biter and delicate pale ale. Another
nice product from Great Divide though I like their heartier brews more.
