Appearance
Crystal clear, effervescent, only a medium dark reddish brown tone. The head
was moderate in height, smooth and creamy, light beige color, with relatively
short duration. Very little lacing on the glass.
Clean effervescent dark red with a light self-sustaining beige head. Not mind
blowing but a good-looking beer nonetheless.

Aroma
Bravo, nice and strong, particularly for this style. Pleasantly complex with sweet
malt, chocolate, Apple, pear, and controlled alcohol tones.
A powerful and tart ale like quality. Full in all senses. Malty, rich, and a
contrasting burnt sugar sweet to balance. A very educated smell to an exciting
looking lager.

Palate
Smooth yet easy drinking, but impressively full flavored right from the first sip.
Heavy sweet malt, tasty chocolate, and initially light citrus consisting of apple and
pear.
Sweet flavor that is full of grain and caramel. Hop is playful throughout as the
lager maintains its presence. A quality double bock that is both spicy and salty in
addition to the sweet.

Finish
The intensity grows, the malt and chocolate gains strength and even has a light
roastiness. Despite that, this stays "bock sweet" as it should. The citrus tones
and light acid grow the most compared to the palate, but this even has a mild
creamy feel on the way down.
Mild tart metallic flavor enters the scene and complements all of the pre-stated
palate points.

Synopsis
Pleasantly surprised, a wonderfully done dopplebock. The best American
version of this style that I have tried. I would recommend this brewery consider
making this their main offering, the regular Shiner Bock is not this impressive, it
should be replaced with this. I hope we do not have to wait another 100 years for
this level of quality from Shiner again.
A shockingly good beer from Shiner. This completely exceeded expectations. I
think it's great to see an American brewery Excel in a style that they are known
for. A very pleasant surprise and thanks to Shiner brewery.
100 years of Shiner beer. All of us at the quote Little Brewery Unquote and Shiner
would like to thank you for your friendship and support for the past 100 years.
Commemorator, our centennial offering, is brewed in the robust classic German
"stark" style and it embodies the Old World heritage and tradition Shiner has
proudly stood for since 1909.
