Brown Ale List
Appearance
A very dark brown, nice color, has dark red and brown tones when held to a light.
Perfectly clear, no cloudiness. The head was a light tan, more creamy than rocky
in texture, not terribly long lasting but the lacing on the glass is good.
An
attractive colorful brown, this ale has a "ruby sheen" when held to a light. Light
head was not overly expressive compared to some ales but superior to many
English variants.

Aroma
Impressive strength of aroma and complex as well. I am getting a toasted malt,
caramel, light lemon and orange citrus, and even some light chocolate tones.
Toasty and sweet, a velvety aromatic with fruit and caramel. Rich maple, grape
and plum interplay with a softly hopped and yeasty malt. Mild roast and milky.

Palate
Refreshing and clean. A very mild creaminess, initially some caramel and sweet
malt flavor.
Sweet and warming quality with the sweetness like a condensed
milk flavor, tempered with a light roast. A little cocoa, vanilla....a good blend.

Finish
The complexity suggested by the aroma arrives. The caramel sweet and toasted
malt strength picks up and then more of the citrus quality is noticed, a tang
mixed with very light hops at the very end.
A good dry finish to a thick and sweet
nose. Hearty Autumn tones creep in to provide hints of oak and chicory. Full and
lasting composition.

Synopsis
Impressive, my favorite New Holland product to date. I like the complex variety of
flavors toasty brown malt, caramel, light fruit, and even lighter chocolate, lightly
hopped relative to style. A little creamy, nothing overdone, a good beer for the
brown ale enthusiast.
Nice variety of flavors ebb and flow here in what is often a
one note style for other brewers. Maybe the best New Holland product. Unique
and if you are a brown ale fan this is worth a try.
Delicious beer delivered with painstaking consistency, thats our philosophy.
We'll give you a while to drink it in.
