Appearance
Dark, black on black, no light can penetrate, and thats how a STOUT should be !
The head is a medium brown, rocky, and lasting. Impressive.
Stout is as stout, if
you can see light there is probably something wrong, but there is nothing wrong
here. The head is solid, rocky, and lasting, Breakfast stout delivers.

Aroma
Nice and strong, a strong black coffee scent comes through the most with hints of
chocolate, spice, and oatmeal in the background. Definitely as advertised.
Coffee,
roasted malt. Great example of a coffee beer that smells like coffee, not instant
coffee, but coffee. Hops as a second bitter are also noticeable.

Palate
Astounding, creamy, chocolaty, and oatmeal taste shines with the coffee and
roasted malt flavors. Carbonation is light but great, not much sweetness but
wonderful, bitterness is very subdued.
Creamy and delicious, this beer isn't
missing anything. If you like your coffee with cream then add it. This beer is
marketed as it is, no surprises or misgivings, I appreciate the honesty in
advertising !

Finish
The coffee flavor literally explodes ! Unbelievably good black coffee flavor and a
hint of the chocolate and oatmeal remains in the finish.
Superior and robust,
strong, yes, but total quality.

Synopsis
Miraculous ! If you like coffee and coffee flavored stouts (which I do) this is your
beer period. If you hate coffee drink something else but I will buy all of this that I
can find, particularly since it is a limited seasonal release. Part of the trend of
good stouts (this one included) is to now come in a four pack instead of a six
pack, but still with a relatively significant price. I appreciate lower prices but
certainly don't want brewers of this quality level to ever shortcut the quality. This
will not be the cheapest beer on the shelf but may very well be the best one there.
When I see it I am buying.
If you try a coffee beer you will run the gambit of
legitimacy. I would suggest this one for anyone that is seeking the coffee flavor
component. You get what you purchase, and won't have any complaints that it is
not what it is supposed to be. It doesn't get any better than this for a coffee stout,
nails it. Not just coffee, but an exceptionally flavored coffee.
