Our Rated Ale List
Elevator brewing Company Columbus, Ohio
"OH" "IO". Head brewer Vic is an Ohio State alum, and brewed this Bleeding
Buckeye Red Ale for you to enjoy whether tailgating, watching the game with
friends, or celebrating a victory. You'll find BBR has a toasty, caramel taste, goes
down smooth and has a lingering, clean finish. You'll score with your friends
with BBR! GOOD CALL !
Appearance
A nice golden brown, effervescent, clean, and clear. Light beige head is short to
medium height, with a short duration but with decent lacing on the glass.
Clean orange amber red. Rocky short head with moderate legging. Clear and
lightly carbonated, a good-looking craft brew.
Aroma
Decent strength level. A fruity ale with tangy grape, orange, and Apple scents
followed by a trailing spice with just a whiff of cinnamon.
Hardy full aroma. Earthy and nutty with warming notes. Not citrusy or spicy, but a
convergence of the two. Has deeper fruits of black cherry and plum.
Palate
A little bit of crisp carbonation zing, A little bit of creaminess. A mild sweet malt
with tangy citrus, a bit of grape and a bit of orange.
On the malty end of the spectrum for this red ale. Very creamy and tannic. A
controlled sweetness masks harshness and provides the drinker with a warm
cottony beer flavor.
Finish
A mix of Crispness and mild creaminess carries through. The citrus gets
pushed back by predominating but mild hop, probably Saaz hops, leaving a
relatively dry finish with a mild salt component.
A little sourness cuts in at the end to darken a medium strength ale. Creaminess
follows through along with the extra bite.
Synopsis
A good beer and an easy drinking one. What is there is good, but a bit more
boldness is needed to push this into the excellent realm. Elevator is a bit better
than the initial craft beers of the 1980s, but overall too mild in today's world of
monstrously full flavored ales.
A decent entry to the red ale style. Well-controlled and executed. A nice departure
from Bud Light on the pregame tailgate.
