Appearance
A nice dark black, a hint of red shows on the edges when held to a light. Head is
awesome dark amber color, rocky and lasting. Deep dark roast with dark red tints
through light. Nice rocky head actually great. Specific gravity is about right on, not
too thick but this beer has "legs".
Aroma
A relatively weak aroma. Detected some roasted malt and a bit of a sour note. Not
terrible, but not terribly impressive in the aroma category. Roasted malt and
coffee. Hints of warming alcohol in the background. Softer hidden tones are milk
sugars which follows the style description.
Palate
Smooth, just a bit of creaminess. Sweet roasted malt flavor noticed right off. Soft
in texture. Sweet and creamy with a nice balance. A great example of a cream
stout in that it doesn't over do anything.
Finish
Strength picks up with more roasted malt character and residual creaminess. No
bitterness or hoppiness here, a true sweet malt based beer. To its credit the
sweetness is not overbearing. Has minor warming characteristics. The taste is
good but very one dimensional. Soft and increasingly chocolaty. Roast and sweet
entertain equally. Very good, and very soft from the mellowing cream element.
Would have preferred more complexity.

An enjoyable beer, but definitely on the thinner softer side compared to other
stouts, including others made by the Bell's Brewery. Good for one who likes a
softer beer with no hoppy bitter elements. Excellent taste but of a one
dimensional nature. Cream stouts often fall apart in the mouth presenting the
drinker with a sweet syrupy mouth feel. This keeps all elements under control. A
little light but I can see this beer having a following, yet another good Bell's
product.
