Ale brewed with real pumpkin and spices
Appearance
A light golden copper with some cloudiness, head dissipated very quickly even
for the pumpkin beer style. Cloudy light golden amber with very light
carbonation. Relatively flat with no lacing. Thin, but with some redeeming
qualities.
Aroma
Very strong aroma presence, cinnamon and nutmeg initially strike the nose, the
pumpkin follows but then itself is quite strong and very sweet. Aroma is very
fitting for the style. Clean with very present pumpkin and spice. The cinnamon
and spice are terrific. Smells like pumpkin pie, even a little sour element with
the pumpkin. Very inviting.
Palate
Soft pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg. What is there is a decent flavor but the
consistency is a bit thin and watery. Very drinkable with a subtle spice bit.
Spices are infused well with a clean water element that sits as a solid back
note. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and pumpkin sour to counterbalance. \
Finish
A little strength kicks in but a big part of that is the carbonation. The pumpkin
and spice flavors are light and quickly fade to carbonation and light graininess.
Crisp and well rounded, light in the pumpkin category but not a problem. Spices
remain on the back of the tongue with all in harmony.
Synopsis
Requisite pumpkin and spice but light. The aroma is the best individual quality
of this pumpkin ale. The cinnamon and nutmeg aroma hits first followed by nice
pumpkin scent. Palate is light and flavors fade in the finish. Seems to me to be
more of a light pumpkin lager or pilsner, does not seem like an ale. A good
introductory pumpkin beer for those who have not had the style, nothing
intimidating. Not the fullest flavor example available but very drinkable. Pleasant
with no heaviness, I can see this having broad appeal. Not my personal favorite
but I like it.
